BACKGROUND

PAÑÑĀSĀSTRA Student Senate-PASS was founded by 11 PUC students and PUC Chancellor, Dr. Chea Sanchanthon in 2003, and officially approved by Dr. Kieng Ratana, Vice President for University Relations in 2005.

PAÑÑĀSĀSTRA Student Senate-PASS is a student organization and our activities are part of a university life experiences. Primary objective to achieve is an excellence in education, but having class alone is not enough. Students need to have more real life, real world and hand on working experiences. Students need to find out who they are and who they want to be. All of these can be achieved through volunteering, meeting, discussion and experiences sharing among students.

VISION

We envision that PUC students will become good leaders for the future of Cambodia and they will be able to achieve great success in their professional careers.

OUR GOALS

HOW DO WE ACHIEVE OUR GOALS?

  1. To promote excellent in education and good leadership through learning and sharing experiences among students. PASS will develop and organize various workshops and Seminars. These will provide students with chances to share their experiences. Guest speakers are also invited to share their knowledge and expertise from time to time. Through these activities students will learn now organization skills, and improve their leadership.
  2. To promote Khmer culture through research discussion, and cultural activities among students. Cultural awareness and education will be provided to students through a number of cultural programs and activities including Folk Dance, classical Dance, Popular Dance Program, Role-play, Drawing Class, Cultural Research Projects, and other related workshops.
  3. To encourage students to become involved in voluntary and community services. PASS will work closely with PUC Center for Community Service Learning and other on-campus programs and departments, to encourage students to develop a sense of social responsibility.

OUR MISSION

We implement our vision and goals through these three committees:

Program Development Committee (PDC)

Program Development Committee (PDC) is the main committee that is responsible for promoting excellence in education and good leadership among student. These can be done through various student activities including presentations, experience sharing among students, training, workshops, student contests and debates, etc.

Culture Program Committee (CPC)

The Culture Program Committee (CPC) is one of the goals and objectives of PASS to preserve Khmer Culture. It responds in promoting research regarding cultural programs and promoting awareness about Khmer culture among students. This can be done through regular dancing classes, presentations, workshops, cultural performances and other events.

Information committee (IC)

Information Committee (IC) is responsible for researching, Collecting and distributing related information to students. The committee shall seek for effectiveness means in information sharing to ensure that more and more student can get better access to information through PASS information Board, PASS Facebook page and website. Through PASS information board, Facebook page and website, we have posted job opportunities, seminars and workshop training, scholarships, and others information related to academic programs. Finally, this committee also assists other committee as requested to distribute information.
