Foreign Teachers in Cambodia, Co. Ltd, represented by Cheryl Glorch, and Speech and Swallowing Therapy Cambodia, represented by Ms. Phivan Norng and Elizabeth Chafcouloff, are pleased to announce an innovative collaboration with Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) in Phnom Penh.

Dr. Sok Uttara, Dean of the Faculty of Education, is excited to report that an introductory course in the basics of pediatric speech therapy will start in August 2017 and will be offered free of charge at PUC.

The course will be led by a full-time experienced speech therapist from the US with support from volunteer speech therapists from City University of London, the UK.

Course participants targeted are Cambodian working professionals—community disability workers, teacher’s aides, physical therapists at public hospitals and the like.

The course will extend over a twelve-week period, and will take place on weekends to accommodate these working professionals. Interested candidates should visit the PUC website: http://www.puc.edu.kh to register, where criteria for acceptance to the program will be posted soon.

“Today there are no Cambodian speech therapists to serve the many children in great need. This is the very first course of its kind,” says Chafcouloff, an American speech therapist. Ms. Glorch adds, “All of us eager for the development of the speech therapy profession in Cambodia see this as an important first step towards a recognized university degree program in speech therapy.”
