Khmer Studies Center and PUC Khmer Youth Goodwill Mission, under the leadership of professor Sombo Manara, hosted the Loving-Kindness and Annual Gratitude Ceremony on July 10, 2010. The ceremony was organized in order to:

- Fostering loving-kindness (Metta), respect and gratitude towards parents;
- Fostering loving-kindness (Metta), respect and gratitude towards teachers;
- Reconciling unhealthy relationships between parents and children;
- Instilling students with a positive attitude in order to prepare them to be responsible citizens and to be role models in Khmer society;
- Nurturing the idea of loving, caring, and preserving Khmer traditions and culture;
- Entrenching the Buddhist philosophy of gratitude and loving-kindness in students’ character;

Participating with the Royal Government of Cambodia to foster national reconciliation and healing, and to build peace and harmony based on a national policy “Education for All and All for Education.”

More than a thousand guests, including students, parents, family members, faculty members, and staff participated in the event. Most notably this ceremony was presided over by PUC founding father, Dr. KolPheng, along with his wife, Mrs. KolPhalla, PUC President, Dr. Chea San Chanthan, PUC Assistant Vice President for Administration and Finance, Mr. KolChannarith, and his wife.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. KolPheng said that “for those who have devoted wholeheartedly to take care of their parents as grateful children will gain tremendous merits, so that in the most difficult circumstances of their lives, they will be saved not only by good men, but also by Deva (God).” --- This is the conclusion of the Bodhisattva’s story of Suvannasama
