Special Education (B.Ed. in SPED)
Program Purpose
The Bachelor of Education in Special Education (B.Ed. in SPED) aims to prepare competent, ethical, and reflective professionals who can effectively support learners with diverse needs through inclusive, evidence-based, and culturally responsive educational practices. Grounded in the historical development of special education and informed by neuroscience research, the program emphasizes early intervention, age-appropriate pedagogies, and high-quality special education within inclusive settings.
The Bachelor of Education in Special Education (B.Ed. in SPED) at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) is grounded in the belief that all learners have the right to inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education. The program is guided by PUC’s core values of Sīla (ethical conduct), Samādhi (reflective practice), and Paññā (evidence-based decision-making), which shape the professional identity and practice of future special educators. Graduates will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions necessary to support learners with diverse abilities across cognitive, sensory, physical, emotional, and behavioral domains.
Through rigorous academic coursework, supervised practicum and field-based experiences, and applied research in inclusive and special education settings, the program equips graduates to design and implement individualized and inclusive instructional strategies, collaborate effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams, advocate for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities, and promote culturally responsive and accessible learning environments. Graduates will be prepared to serve as special education teachers, inclusive education specialists, resource teachers, program coordinators, disability support officers, teacher trainers, policy advocates, and social entrepreneurs in public, private, and community-based educational and social service settings.
