On 22 December 2011, the delegation of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) came to visit Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) and had a general meeting with PUC leadership at Meeting Room A, PUC South Campus. YUFE is one of the top ten universities in the People’s Republic of China.
There were four people in the delegation from YUFE: Mr. Yin Hong, YUFE vice-president; Dr. Zou Zaijin, deputy dean of the School of Public Administration; Dr. Lau Tian, deputy dean of the Graduate School; and Ms. Chen Hong, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office. The PUC leadership team lead by PUC Chancellor Dr. Chea San Chanthan, included: Prof. Chiv Ratha, dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics; Dr. Chhun Vannak, dean of the Graduate School of Management and Economics; Mr. Long Kimheng, director of the International Studies Program; and Prof. Hem Bonarin, director of the Academic Program Office.
The aims of this visit were to strengthen the long cooperation and to convene any exchange programs between PUC and YUFE. PUC has so far sent many students, staff, lecturers and researchers to explore and to exchange new experiences at other partner’s universities around the world, and also has welcomed diversity students, lecturers from overseas universities such as the USA, China, Japan, South Korea, and so on, Dr. Chea San Chanthan, PUC chancellor said. We will soon have chances
to exchange our students for two different programs: firstly is a short-term exchange program - one or two semesters - for undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of tourism management, business agriculture, economics and exhibition management; and secondly is a long-term exchange program - students study one or two years at PUC and then continue to pursue two years more at YUFE.
PUC is very intrigued by a few major fields which are offered at YUFE, such as tourism management, hospitality, exhibition and agricultural economics in both graduate and undergraduate levels because YUFE is one of the top ten universities of those major fields, Prof. Chiv Ratha and Dr. Chun Vannak said. Besides, PUC is passionate and keen to send our outstanding students to discover and acquire new experiences in China and learn the Chinese language which is currently a popular language in Cambodia. Meanwhile, YUFE was pleased by the warm welcome of outstanding PUC students and will encourage YUFE students to come and learn at PUC, particularly with Cambodia’s history and traditional culture, Mr. Yin Hong, YUFE vice-president said. At the end the ceremony, each delegate shared their souvenirs with each other and took a group photo. Last but not least, both YUFE and PUC delegations believe that many remarkable events will happen after the planning of each university.
