On November 27, 2015, two delegates from Shih Chien University, Taiwan visited Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC) in order to establish cooperation between the two institutions.

Dr. Michael J.K. Chen, president of Shih Chien University, admired PUC for being active in educating students. “We have heard that PUC is a top English-based university in the region,” added Dr. Michael J.K. Chen. “We also read the website, but loved to see it in person.”

According to the president’s description, Shih Chien means to put things into practice. The university’s emphasis is on innovation and internationalization. Shih Chien University is located in the city of Taipei, which has easy access to many forms of public transportation. There are five faculties: management and economics, design, information science, innovation industry, and human ecology. There is a second campus in Kaohsiung, about 380 Kilometers from Taipei. Professors are professionals who come from the U.S.A., U.K, Australia, Japan, and many other countries. Students can choose to study English, especially in the field of International Business. In addition, students can learn Mandarin, as there is a Chinese language center.

As a first step, Dr. Tony Shou-wang Kuo, dean of the Office of International Affairs, is looking to form an agreement for either faculty or student exchanges which will last from two to five weeks. “We can expand the collaboration when the agreement has been successfully implemented,” added Dr. Tony Shou-wang Kuo in his closing remarks.
