Public Lecture Series Guest Speaker: Cuba and Cambodia are both located in tropical regions, and share similar types of plant and animal life. Both countries also face similar challenges with regards to natural resource management. This lecture will present the different types of animal life in Cuba, the roles they play in the ecosystem, and the efforts being made by the Cuban government in environmental protection. Dr. Orlando Torres Fundora is a Professor in the Faculty of Biology and Director of the Center of Environmental Studies at the University of Havana, Cuba. His fields of study include vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy of vertebrates, ornithology, ecology, evolution, and conservation. He has been a member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences for the past 15 years and is currently the President of the Cuban Ornithological Society. He has also published articles in over 40 national and international scientific journals. All students, faculty and the general public are cordially invited to attend!!
