English is now the dominant language spoken by over a billion people. There are nearly as many people who speak English as a second language as there are native speakers. All of this is having a profound effect on the language and how it is perceived around the world. This presentation looks at the different contexts and countries in which the language dominates education, pop music, advertising, and the Internet. It explores the pros and cons of this dominance and the ways in which it is actually changing the language.
